Turning Insight into Lasting Change

Ketamine treatment has earned attention for its ability to create rapid shifts in mood, perception, and emotional processing. But what determines whether those shifts last isn’t just the medication—it’s what happens around it.

At NW Regen, one of our highest recommendations for participation in the ketamine program is that every patient works with a licensed psychotherapist throughout treatment. This is a highly recommended part of the process.

While Dr. Hibbitts is a highly-trained licensed medical professional, he is not a psychotherapist. Many of our patients work with both throughout their treatment.

Why a Guided Process Is Essential

Ketamine can create a temporary state where the brain becomes more flexible—a window where long-standing patterns begin to loosen. Patients may experience new insights, emotional release, or a different perspective on past experiences.

But without support, those insights can fade.

Working with Dr. Hibbitts helps patients:

  • Make sense of what came up during sessions
  • Translate insights into real-life changes
  • Reinforce new patterns while the brain is more adaptable

Research and clinical experience both show that outcomes are stronger when ketamine is paired with ongoing therapy. For this reason, NW Regen highly recommends that patients engage in ongoing psychotherapy during treatment.

A Collaborative Model of Care

At NW Regen, care is intentionally collaborative.

Dr. William Hibbitts guides the medical and experiential aspects of treatment—helping patients prepare, supporting them during sessions, and facilitating early integration.

At the same time, your licensed psychotherapistt helps you continue the work between sessions—where real-life change begins to take shape.

In many cases, patients may also work with Dr. Ryan Wood, whose expertise in whole-person and regenerative care supports the broader picture of healing—especially when physical symptoms, chronic pain, or nervous system dysregulation are part of the story. Dr. Wood is an expert in Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) therapy, a minimally-invasive treatment of PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

Why This Matters

Ketamine can open the door. Guided conversation with a trained and licensed professional helps you walk through it. This integrated approach ensures that treatment is not just an experience, but a process that leads to meaningful, lasting change.
