When most people hear EDS, they think of flexibility. But for many living with the syndrome, that flexibility comes at a cost.

EDS is often misunderstood as just flexibility—but it can impact joints, pain, fatigue, and the entire nervous system. During EDS Awareness Month, we’re shedding light on what’s really going on—and how to support it.

EDS is a connective tissue disorder, which means it affects the collagen that helps support your joints, skin, blood vessels, and more. When that system isn’t functioning properly, the body can feel unstable—physically and internally.

This can show up as:

Because these symptoms can vary widely (and don’t always show up clearly on standard tests) many people go years without a diagnosis. They’re often told nothing is wrong, or that it’s “just anxiety.”

Neck pain
But EDS is real. And it often overlaps with other conditions,
including
POTS and nervous system dysregulation.

At NW Regen, we take a broader view.

Instead of focusing on a single symptom, we look at how systems are interacting:

  • How joint instability affects movement and pain
  • How the nervous system responds to chronic strain
  • How fatigue builds when the body is constantly compensating
  • How inflammation or stress may be contributing

EDS treatment isn’t about “fixing” EDS. It’s about supporting the body in a way that reduces strain and improves function.

Treatment may include:

Knee pain
One of the most important shifts for patients is understanding this:
You’re not fragile. But your body may need a different kind of support.

When you begin to work with your system—rather than pushing through symptoms—things can start to feel more manageable.

Less reactive.
More stable.
More predictable.

During EDS Awareness Month, our goal is more than just awareness. It’s validation.

Because when you understand what your body is dealing with, you can finally start making choices that support it—consistently, and sustainably.
