Functional Medicine

Treating root causes holistically for renewed health.

What is Functional Medicine?

Holistic treatment that considers your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Functional medicine physicians work holistically to treat the root causes of disease and restore healthy function through personalized patient experiences and treatment plans.

As a systems biology-based methodology, each symptom or diagnosis may be one piece of the puzzle, with multiple contributing factors. Our naturopathic physician spends time learning about you, your lifestyle,  your medical history, and your family history to tailor your personalized care.

Dr. Jillian Moehle combines naturopathic and Western medicine, bioidentical hormone replacement, IV therapy, and pharmaceutical management for compassionate and patient-centered care.

Functional medicine addresses the root cause of discomfort to promote natural healing.

Functional Medicine FAQs

What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a patient-centered, systems biology approach to healthcare that focuses on addressing the root causes of illness and promoting overall wellness. It seeks to understand how different factors, such as genetics, lifestyle, and environment, impact an individual’s health and uses personalized treatments to restore balance and optimize well-being.
What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic healthcare system that emphasizes the body’s inherent ability to heal itself under the right circumstances. It combines natural therapies, such as botanical medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle counseling, to support and stimulate the body’s self- healing mechanisms. Naturopathic doctors aim to treat the root cause of disease by addressing physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health.
Can my doctor prescribe medications?

Yes, Dr. Moehle can and does prescribe medications when needed. Her practice merges functional, naturopathic, and Western medicine to provide pharmacuetical management when necessary, as well as nutritive and regenerative IV therapies.

How are naturopathic doctors trained?

Naturopathic doctors (NDs) go through a rigorous four-year training program at an accredited university and are trained similarly to family practice physicians.

They receive additional training in therapies such as botanical medicine, nutrition, and physical medicine.

Many NDs go on to complete additional training through post-graduate residency programs.

What symptoms or conditions can be addressed through functional medicine?
Functional Medicine can offer assistance for a wide range of health issues. The initial step involves identifying and rectifying impediments to well-being, which can lead to significant enhancements in health, irrespective of the specific condition.
Do I have to spend money on fancy tests to get comprehensive care?
No! There is plenty to be done with basic blood work billed to insurance. Sometimes Dr. Moehle will recommend specialty lab testing in certain situations, however a cost/benefit discussion will always be had to ensure that you are comfortable with the plan.
How long are follow up appointments?
Between 30-45 minutes.
What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first appointment will usually be about an hour long. During that time Dr. Moehle will review your health history and listen to your story. This time is important for laying the groundwork for your treatment plan and understanding what factors have contributed to your current health concerns. This is also a time for you to ask any questions and discuss your goals. Dr. Moehle will often order labs, when appropriate, at this visit and send you home with the first steps in your treatment plan.

Before your first visit, we ask that you complete our new patient forms and gather all of your pertinent records. If you intend to use insurance, please confirm with your carrier ahead of time that your plan includes Naturopathic benefits.

What do I need to know about payments & billing?

Dr. Moehle is an ‘in network’ provider with the major Oregon insurance companies of:

  • Regence/BCBS
  • Providence
  • Aetna
  • Pacific Source
  • Medicaid Open Card

If you do not have any of these 5 insurance companies, your plan doesn’t include Naturopathic coverage, or you are not planning to use insurance, we will operate on a cash-pay basis and fees will range based on time and complexity of the visit. Prior to your visit, please confirm with your carrier that you have Naturopathic coverage, as not all plans do.
