Integrative Medicine
Science-based medicine with lifestyle, nutrition, and natural therapies. What is Integrative Medicine?
Whole-Person Care, Root-Cause Focus
At NW Regen, we believe great healthcare doesn’t just treat symptoms — it treats the whole person. That’s the heart of integrative medicine. It combines the science and precision of conventional medicine with the wisdom and prevention-focused approach of natural and holistic therapies.
More than a Primary Care Physician, Dr. Alicia Hart’s goal is to use every effective tool available — modern or traditional — to create a specialized, finely-tuned plan of care to help her patients heal, thrive, and feel their best. This includes coordination of care and collaboration with other general practitioners or specialists, as necessary.
The Integrative Advantage
Dr. Alicia Hart’s integrative approach enhances conventional care by combining science-based medicine with lifestyle, nutrition, and natural therapies.
The goal is always to treat the root cause, support your body’s natural healing, and improve overall quality of life. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, struggling with stress or fatigue, or simply want to optimize your health, Dr. Hart’s integrative approach offers a thoughtful, personalized path to wellness.
Treating the Whole Person in Collaboration with Your Primary Care Physician
A Whole-Person Approach
Your health is more than lab results or diagnoses. It’s influenced by your nutrition, sleep, stress levels, relationships, environment, and your mindset.
Dr. Hart takes time to understand all of these factors, creating a clear and personalized plan for long-term wellness. Rather than simply managing disease, she focuses on finding and addressing root causes, supporting your body’s natural ability to heal while still using evidence-based medical care when needed.
Science-Based, Patient-Centered Care
Integrative medicine isn’t “alternative” — it’s inclusive.
Dr. Hart’s approach is grounded in research and clinical experience, combining the best of both modern and natural medicine.
She works collaboratively with her patients, empowering them with knowledge and ongoing support so they can take an active role in their own health.

Integrative Medicine FAQs
What is Naturopathic medicine and how is it different from Allopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic healthcare system that emphasizes identifying and treating the root cause of illness by addressing physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health in order to support and stimulate the body’s innate healing ability (“vis medicatrix naturae”). Treatments focus on prevention, lifestyle counseling, nutrition and natural therapies, such as botanical medicine. Goal: Restore balance and promote long-term wellness.
Allopathic medicine focuses on diagnosing and treating disease primarily through pharmaceuticals, surgery, and other evidence-based interventions that target symptoms or pathophysiology directly. Goal: Eliminate or control disease.
Can my doctor prescribe medications?
Yes, Dr. Hart can and does prescribe medications. Her practice uses functional, naturopathic, and conventional medicine to create integrative plans that center around what works for your individual best health.
How are naturopathic doctors trained?
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) go through a rigorous four-year training program at an accredited university and are trained similarly to family practice physicians.
They receive additional training in therapies such as botanical medicine, nutrition, and physical medicine and often complete additional training through post-graduate residency programs.
Dr. Hart did a 3-year residency at Southwest Family Physicians, working alongside MDs, DOs, PAs, NPs, as well as 6 years at Vitality Natural Medicine and, most recently, an additional year and a half focused specifically on ADHD and mental health.
Do I have to spend money on fancy tests to get comprehensive care?
Dr. Hart doesn’t order anything that does not have a clear purpose for the next steps of the plan. In general, basic lab work that can be billed to insurance is sufficient. Occasionally specialty lab testing may be helpful, but the cost/benefit discussion is always a factor.
How long are follow up appointments?
Between 30-45 minutes on average.
What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first appointment will usually be about an hour long. During that time Dr. Hart will review your health history and listen to your story. This time is important for laying the groundwork for your treatment plan and understanding what factors have contributed to your current health concerns. This is also a time for you to ask any questions and discuss your goals. Dr. Hart will send you home with the first steps in your treatment plan. If necessary, she may order labs at this visit as well.
Before your first visit, we ask that you complete our new patient forms and gather all of your pertinent records.
What do I need to know about payments & billing?
We operate on a cash-pay basis, and fees will range based on time and complexity of the visit. We do not accept any forms of insurance, however, we do supply all of our patients with a Superbill at time of service, which they can submit to their carrier.
